Live-action trailers are apparently always a thing, and The Medium – an upcoming horror game from Bloober Team, the developers of Layers of Fear and Blair Witch – now has one. It features the game’s “two worlds” setup, with its protagonist able to move between the real world and a spirit world where everything is brown and decaying and she has white hair.
The trailer is cranky and has a lot of yelling, but won’t tell you much about the actual game. We see flashbacks with a young girl, the protagonist uses some sort of power to burn the bugs with a psychic shield, and we are reminded that Grandpa’s clocks and masked children are scary. A gangly monster runs down a hallway and another with ten arms and poor appetite control strikes a boss pose. I’m sure this will all make sense over time.
The way buildings turn to ash in the Spirit World has a very Silent Hill: The Movie look, and Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka contributed to the score for The Medium. It’s okay…
