Tamil Nadu to support startups with seed fund of Rs 10 lakh each | Chennai News

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government wants to support the state’s startups with monetary and other support needed to scale their business.
The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute, Tamil Nadu (EDII-TN), the nodal agency implementing various initiatives to promote innovation and startup ecosystem, is organising the Tamil Nadu Startup Seed Grant Fund (TANSEED) 2021 challenge in association with Headstart Network Foundation.
With the launch of TANSEED fund, the state will award up to 10 startups with Rs 10 lakh each.
The programme is now inviting applications from interested startups who will then be a part of bootcamps and a pitchfest that will shortlist the startups for the grant.
The state launched the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Policy 2018-23 in January 2019 and had organised the Tamil Nadu Innovation Grand Challenge (TNIGC) for the last three years. TNIGC has had three cohorts with a total of 16 startups awarded a seed grant of Rs 5 lakh per startup till date.
Startups registered in the state or willing to register in the state with a prototype or proof of concept can apply. The applications will be shortlisted based on criteria and the startups will be onboarded for the bootcamp.
The three-day bootcamp will comprise one-on-one sessions by the teams with mentors, and teams will then create and submit pitch decks to be shortlisted for the pitchfest.
Shortlisted startups will then present their business in the pitch challenge, after which up to 10 teams will be awarded a grant of Rs 10 lakh each to take their startups forward with support from StartupTN.
The deadline for the applications is January 25.
