The latest PS5 update is now live and fixes an annoying issue that was causing the wrong version of games to install from a PS4 disc.
The latest update for PlayStation 5 has been released and fixed an annoying issue that was causing the wrong version of a game to install when loading from a PS4 disc. There are some games which have a PS4 and PS5 version available, like Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The PS5 is supposed to install the PS5 version of the game if prompted, even when the player is using a PS4 disc, but it did the opposite for many players. Sony has released update 20.02-02.50.00 for the PS5, which finally fixes this issue, which means that the correct version of the game should now be installed from a PS4 disc. Within the framework of PlaystationThe official update patch notes, the issue has been fixed with the following:
“The following issue has been resolved: the PS4 version of the game was sometimes installed from the PS4 game disc, even after upgrading the disc version of a PS4 game to the PS5 version.
This system software update improves system performance. “
The choice to take some of the PS5 launch exclusives and turn them into cross-gen games was severely criticized. The PS5 only had Astro’s Playroom and Demon’s Souls as launch exclusives, with Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure receiving simultaneous PS4 ports. The move turned out to be unimportant, as the fervor for the PS5 hasn’t slowed down, with the console shipping millions of units worldwide, even with the issues caused by the pandemic. If anything, people who couldn’t catch a PS5 for the holiday season could at least enjoy the latest Spider-Man. game on their old console. Free upgrades offered by many games also means that people can enjoy the upgraded versions once they finally buy a PS5.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X / S face startup issues more than previous consoles, as it’s a time when issues can be fixed over time. Those who missed out on a PS5 during the 2020 holiday season shouldn’t be too worried. By the time they have one, there will be more games on offer, and all those annoying system issues will have been resolved.
