Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen called India a ‘beloved country’ after the ‘Made in India’ vaccines landed in South Africa. Pietersen, who is Pietermaritzburg-born, was happy to see India helping out others in a tough time.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to Pietersen’s tweet and said he’s ‘glad to see’ him showing affection towards India. He said the world is ‘our family’ and it was their part to strengthen the battle against Coronavirus.
“Indian generosity and kindness grows more and more every single day. The beloved country!”, Pietersen had tweeted.
To which, Modi replied, “Glad to see your affection towards India. 🙂 We believe that the world is our family and want to play our role in strengthening the fight against COVID-19.”
Earlier, South African Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize had confirmed a million coronavirus vaccine doses will arrive from India in the country on February 1.
