The convocation is scheduled to be held on January 22, to confer degrees and diplomas upon the students who passed out in 2020.
While PM Modi will grace the occasion virtually as the chief guest, education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the guests of honour. Assam governor and TU chancellor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi will preside over the convocation and award the degrees and diplomas to the students virtually. Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das will attend the event as a special guest.
“A total of 1,218 students will receive their degrees and diplomas in the convocation out of which 371 are undergraduate, 725 postgraduate, 36 PG diploma and 86 are Ph.D. recipients,” said a TU release.
Among the degree recipients, 48 toppers of various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will be awarded Gold Medals. “The Convocation will be held in a blended mode, observing the Covid19 protocols, where only the Ph.D. scholars and Gold Medalists are to receive their degrees and Gold Medals in person and the rest of the recipients are to be awarded their degrees and diplomas virtually,” it added.
