KANPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday shared on his official Twitter account the video of ‘Vocal for Local’ speech of a city girl, Mudita Mishra, who had stated that ‘India has woken up now’ and also called upon the world to ‘carry the products with the tag of ‘Made in India’.
National Youth Parliament Festival, 2021, speech winner Mudita, a student of BA third year at PPN Degree College, Kanpur, had shared her thoughts about ‘Vocal for Local’ during the valedictory function of the festival addressed by Modi at the Central hall of Parliament on Tuesday. The event was held on the occasion of spiritual leader Vivekananda’s birth anniversary.

She became the first winner of the speech competition of the Youth Parliament Festival due to her ‘strong voice and the style of the spoken speaker’.
While sharing her video, the PM wrote: “Mudita Mishra of Uttar Pradesh, the first prize winner of the National Youth Parliament Festival, 2021, in her speech on ‘Vocal for Local’, has effectively stated that ‘India has now woken up’.”
In her speech, Mudita elaborated how iron and steel products made in India 3,000 years ago were being used all over the world and Indian products were popular and purchased right from East to the West.
She further said in her address that in the recent days with the mahamantra of ‘Vocal for Local’, when we showed confidence in the local supply chain, once again the country has started excelling and heading towards becoming the world’s biggest economic power.
She further said that in the coming days, the popularity of Indian products will be echoed worldwide.
Mudita also stated that when it comes to Ayurveda and traditional medicine, the entire world is looking towards India. “The people across the world now talk about being vocal about popular products made in different parts of the country,” she said.
Mudita also called upon the world to carry the products with the tag of ‘Made in India’.
Mudita’s father Dr Diwakar Mishra is a lecturer at BNSD College in the city, while her mother Sushma Mishra serves in Bhartiya Jeevan Bima Nigam.
To recall, while addressing the nation from the iconic Red Fort on August 15, Modi had said “the mindset of free India should be ‘vocal for local’ to achieve the goal of ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India)”.
