New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi congratulated US President Joe Biden and vowed to take India-US partnership to even greater heights. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said, “The India-US partnership is based on shared values. We have a substantial and multifaceted bilateral agenda, growing economic engagement and vibrant people to people linkages. Committed to working with President @JoeBiden  to take the India-US partnership to even greater heights.”

PM also extended his ‘best wishes for a successful term in leading the USA as we stand united and resilient in addressing common challenges and advancing global peace and security’. Biden was sworn-in as the 46th President of the United States on Wednesday. In a historic moment, Indian-American Kamala Harris was sworn-in as the first woman Vice President of the country.

“My warmest congratulations to @JoeBiden on his assumption of office as President of the United States of America. I look forward to working with him to strengthen India-US strategic partnership,” PM said in his tweets.

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu also extended wishes to the new US President and expressed confidence that the India-Us ties will be cemented in the years ahead. “India-US ties are based on many shared values and I am sure that the partnership between the two nations will get further cemented in the coming years,” Naidu said.

In his first address to the nation as the US President, Biden said that he will be the President of the ‘United’ states of America. “I know forces that divide us are deep & they are real. But I also know they are not new. Our history has been a constant struggle between American ideal that we’re all created an equal and harsh ugly reality that racism, nativism, fear, demonization have long torn us apart,” Biden said.
