The Xbox Series X console is available in just one finish: black, so if you want to add a bit of color to your Microsoft gaming setup the easiest way is to buy a new controller. And Microsoft just added to the colorful selection available.
As Xbox Wire reveals, a new Xbox Wireless Controller will be available in Pulse Red from next month. It joins the Carbon Black, Robot White, and Shock Blue versions introduced back in November alongside the new consoles. The front of the new controller is “fiery red,” while the back is white and the triggers, bumpers, and hybrid D-pad are matte black to help reduce slip from sweaty fingers. The triggers also use a textured dot pattern to further help with grip.
As with all new Xbox controllers, the Pulse Red edition can be used with the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, all Xbox One consoles, Windows 10 PCs, and Android devices. It also means you can load up Xbox Game Pass on any of those platforms and have the preferred controller available to use. The pad also remembers multiple devices, so you can switch between an Xbox console, PC, and Android device without having to repeat the setup process every time.
Microsoft is making the Xbox Wireless Controller in Pulse Red available from Feb. 9 for $64.99. The one exception to that is China, where the new controller launched today. Typically, retailers do drop the price down to $50, so shop around next month before deciding where to purchase the pad from.
