Jaishankar discusses Afghanistan with Qatari leaders, US special envoy | India News


NEW DELHI: India is consulting all the top stakeholders on Afghanistan, with foreign minister S Jaishankar holding talks with the Qatari leadership as well as US special envoy on Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad.
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the minister had engaged with the Qatari leadership on two occasions last week. Bagchi said, “India has been pro-development, pro-democracy, pro-human rights and pro-progress. It is for the people of Afghanistan to judge each of their partners on how actions by these partners have affected the Afghan people.”
After his meeting with Jaishankar, Khalilzad tweeted, “India has played a very important role in Afghanistan’s economic and social development in the last two decades. It will continue to have a vital role as we work together,…to help Afghans achieve peace, security and economic well-being…”
