IIT-Kanpur joins hands with NDMC to help startups with innovative solutions


n a first-of-its-kind initiative, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur will join hands with NDMC to offer a technical launchpad to startups to showcase their innovative solutions through a 15-day competition. The startups will address civic issues such as waste management, town planning and sanitation that has been started in Delhi, said NDMC officials on Friday.

The ‘CiTe- Civic Tech Innovation Launchpad’ is organised by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation in partnership with Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur, says the NDMC official statement, as per a
PTI report.

Jai Prakash, North Delhi Mayor, has said CiTe is a 15-day competition that aims to provide a platform to startups and innovators to present solutions addressing waste management, water management, town planning, and sanitation and hygiene.

The platform will support top three ideas, which will receive technical and business mentorship at SIIC, IIT Kanpur, reads the statement. Prakash said CiTe is a first-of-its-kind initiative to give a platform to startups and innovators to solve the civic issues of the NDMC.

Startups and innovators selected under the CiTe will receive up to Rs 25 lakh worth innovation fellowship and prototype development support, along with an opportunity to refine these solutions, the civic body states.
